A contemporary remodelling commission

I wanted to share a recent commission I did for a client who first visited me at our Fullarton Road store in 1978 and has remained a long-standing client and friend.

She asked about having a ring made and after a brief conversation, she chose to commission the combining of two of her existing diamond rings into one contemporary ring for her index finger.

The original rings.

The two rings both had wonderful memories for her. One ring contained six white diamonds chosen years ago from a range of perfectly matched imported stones, and the other ring contained a round Argyle champagne diamond and four baguette cut diamonds. Baguettes are one of our client’s favourite cut of diamond.

Taking similar design elements from the past two rings, I chose to position the diamonds in two adjacent sections and arranged them in a similar way to how they were originally set in each previous ring. I placed the groups parallel to each other and orientated them following the length of the finger and featuring 18 carat yellow and white gold. This is the drawing of the design:

The hand drawing of the design.

The client absolutely loves the new ring and recently told us that she can also wear the ring on her other hand on her middle finger. A lovely surprise and doubles the wearability!
